About the Bed and Breakfast

While it was originally built in the late 1880’s as a single-family home, the Mansion at 1332 South Fourth Street in Louisville has been a bed and breakfast for more than 35 years. It was originally known as the “Inn at The Park,” because it is adjacent to Louisville’s Central Park. New owners purchased and renovated the Inn in 2001 and kept the name until the City Of Louisville changed its liquor laws to allow a bed and breakfast to serve alcohol. In 2006, it was rebranded as the Louisville Bourbon Inn.

Like many in the hospitality industry, the Inn faced unprecedented challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic and remained largely unoccupied in 2020. In 2021, Ellen Stauffer purchased the Inn with a vision: to renovate, reimagine, and rebuild it into a thriving, turnkey business. With the help of her son Kenny, a professionally trained chef, Ellen dramatically increased occupancy and elevated the Inn from #10 to #2 on Tripadvisor’s list of Louisville B&Bs.

In 2023, the reins were passed to new owners Jeff Ochs and Allen Mitchell, who moved from Columbus, Ohio to continue the transformation. Guests quickly took to their gracious style and top-tier service, affectionately dubbing them the Dynamic Duo of Hospitality. Allen’s hospitality and culinary expertise, and Jeff’s warm, guest-focused approach solidified the Inn’s reputation for excellence.

Their efforts were quickly recognized. In 2024, the Louisville Bourbon Inn was named the #1 bed and breakfast in Louisville and among the Top 15 in the U.S. by Tripadvisor’s “Best of the Best.” It was also recognized as Louisville’s top-rated hotel by Top-Rated.Online and received the Quality Business Award for Best Louisville Bed and Breakfast in 2025.

Also in 2025, the Inn’s signature breakfast earned national acclaim, winning the First Place People’s Choice Award at the prestigious Gravy Cup for its biscuits and gravy.
