In case you’ve been sleeping under a rock lately, we wanted to remind you that September is National Bourbon Heritage Month. Yes, there is an entire month dedicated to celebrating bourbon, America’s native spirit. It’s not just a drink, it’s part of our heritage!
Aside from a visit to the Louisville Bourbon Inn and an all-day, all-inclusive Kentucky Bourbon Trail tour package, here are some other ways you can do your part to commemorate this special time of year:
Invite your besties over for a tasting session. Use a variety of brands, print out some tasting cards and compare notes.
Try out a recipe such as bourbon-glazed chicken or bourbon pecan pie.
Up your cocktail game by becoming an expert mixologist for classic bourbon drinks such as the Old Fashioned, Mint Julep and Manhattan (any guesses how our suites got their names?)
Try to reclaim some of those lost brain cells by reading a book or watching a documentary about bourbon.
Cocktails are OK, but you have to be able to identify the bourbon and you can’t have already had it this month. Different proofs of the same bourbon don’t count, nor does rye whiskey!
Don’t forget to share your special bourbon moments on social media using the hashtags #LouBourbonInn and #NationalBourbonHeritageMonth.
